Physiotherapy

Whether you want to recover from an injury, reduce symptoms, improve a chronic problem, speed up your return to sport, increase your athletic performance, or simply reduce health risks, the physiotherapists at our clinics will be there to treat, motivate, and guide you towards your goals. Our physiotherapists may involve a variety of physical therapy modalities, including: electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), ultrasound, acupuncture, cupping, shockwave, and more.

We believe that manual or “hands-on” therapy, such as soft tissue release or joint mobilizations, in combination with a progressive exercise program, are both vital components of treatment. With continuous monitoring and gradual exercise progressions, you will achieve above and beyond your goals of rehabilitation.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the key components of Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves the stimulation of points on the body through the insertion of very thin, solid acupuncture needles into the skin to achieve a therapeutic effect.

THP chiropractors use acupuncture to reduce or relieve pain and improve function of affected areas of the body. Acupuncture encourages natural healing and can improve your mood and energy. This method is safe and effective. Acupuncture has been successfully used as an alternative to medications and an adjunct to physiotherapy and chiropractic treatment techniques.

Sport Therapy

At Total Health Physio we work with all types of athletes, from the recreational athlete and weekend warrior to competitive athletes. We focus on the unique injuries of athletes, and their sport-specific recovery and injury prevention needs.

Our team understands that athletes are under unique demands and require tailored, hands-on evaluation and treatment. We work in tandem with other providers to ensure you are getting the best care possible. Whether it’s post-operative physical therapy or conservative management you are looking for, we are here to help.

Orthotics

Orthotics can address the pain in your feet, knees, ankles or lower back. One of the causes of this could be poorly aligned foot function (biomechanics), which might be causing your pain! Flat feet and high arches can both cause bad walking stresses on your feet.

THP uses the most accurate laser technology to measure, prescribe and design custom-made foot inserts (that are specifically for you) to help correct proper foot foundation structure, improving comfort and mobility.

Shockwave Therapy

Radial shockwave therapy (RSWT) is a method for the treatment of superficial orthopedic disorders developed over the past 20 years. A projectile accelerated in the handpiece generates a mechanical pressure wave, which is transferred to the human body by an applicator head and which radiates out in the tissue.

The mechanical energy is absorbed by the tissue and decreases as the distance from the application site increases. The mechanical stress triggers reactions in the tissue that have a positive influence on a wide range of orthopedic and neurological conditions.

Shockwave Therapy is ideal for:

  • Insertion tendinopathy

  • Tendon problems

  • Chronic inflammation

  • Hypertonic muscle systems

  • Myofascial syndromes

  • Hemotoma treatments

Chiropractor

Chiropractic is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the spine, nervous system, and joints of the extremities. THP treat areas of decreased function through a non-invasive, hands-on form of care to reduce muscle and joint pain and increase function, adopting a corrective and preventative approach to assist in the care of new and old conditions.

Work, motor vehicular accidents, sports injuries, household tasks, and even stress can cause painful joint and back problems. Chiropractic care can help you maintain a healthy spine and joint function. Our team of chiropractors value your well-being and are committed to helping you move better, feel better and live better.

Motor Vehicle Accident

MVA injuries are commonly known as whiplash injuries to the neck and lower back, which can also affect other areas of the body. Some injuries can cause you to lose time from work and prevent you from your day-to-day activities.

At Total Health Physio, we make your motor vehicle accident rehabilitation is easy. Our health professionals have the expertise to rehabilitate these vehicle-caused injuries, as well as accident-specific joint, muscle, ligament, tendon, bone and spine conditions. THP is dedicated to bring you back to fully functional recovery.

The process is stress-free as our team will complete and submit necessary insurance forms on your behalf, as well as billing your insurance company directly. Our goal is making your car accident related rehabilitation fast, effective, and easy.

Massage Therapy

Total Health Physio massage therapists will help optimize your health and well-being through hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body. By massaging the body’s soft tissues such as muscles, tendons and ligaments, a massage therapist can affect the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems to improve your physical function. Ultimately, this leads to blood circulation and increase of lymphatic drainage in the problem area.

Our MT team is skilled in the provision of a variety of massage techniques and modalities and draw on these to tailor a massage experience specific to your needs in order to restore your health. Massage therapy can help with treatment and prevention of pain, injuries, muscle tightness, as well as stress to help restore your body, mind and soul.
